EXHIBITION CONTENT

What does the exhibition include?
The exhibition includes over 300 rare and original objects from the 1600s to 2009.

VISITOR GUIDELINES

Is photography allowed in the exhibition?
Due to the delicate nature of the artifacts, no photography of the artifacts is allowed. Guests are allowed to take photographs outside the actual exhibition although no cameras are allowed inside.

Are guided tours available in the galleries?
Audio tours are available for a fee. CAAM (California African America Museum) will provide docents in select areas of the exhibition.

Are food and drinks allowed?
Answer: No food or drinks are allowed inside the exhibition. The museum has dining and refreshment options for before or after your exhibition experience. You may also visit L.A. LIVE, located only 3 miles North on Figueroa. Visit L.A. LIVE

Who has the lowest priced ticket?
Walmart stores is offering the lowest priced ticket for entry. Adults $8 and Child $4.50 (ages 3 to 12).

Are there any area hotels offering packages that include tickets?
Yes. Return to the "Visit" page for special hotel packages.

How long is the average exhibition stay?
Typical exhibition length of stay is 60-90 minutes, possibly 20 minutes additional for the STOMP Theater Show.

What are the hours of operation for America I AM?
Hours for America I AM will be following:

     Monday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
     Tuesday -10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
     Wednesday -10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
     Thursday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
     Friday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
     Saturday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
     Sunday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.

Is there a place to eat at the California Science Center?
Yes! There's a McDonald's and Cafe open from 10am to close and is fully wheelchair accessible. Serving fresh carved deli sandwiches, specialty salads, and a variety of hot and cold beverages, you're sure to find what you need to satisfy that hunger crave.

How do I get to the California Science Center by car?

North on the Harbor Freeway (110) (non-carpool lane)

Exit Exposition Boulevard
Turn left to Flower Street
Turn left on Flower to Figueroa Street
Enter Exposition Park 1/2 block on the right (39th Street/Exposition Park Drive)
Follow guest parking signs to the parking structure

I plan to drive to the California Science Center. Where should I park?
There is ample parking available at Exposition Park Drive immediately adjacent to the exhibition main entrance. Follow the signs upon arrival.

How can I get to the California Science Center via public transit?
Public transportation: http://www.metro.net/index.asp. The Science center is located at 39th and Figueroa.

How much does parking cost?
Parking is $8.00 for cars and $10 for buses at Exposition Park.

PURCHASING TICKETS:

Do I need to know when I will attend America I AM when I purchase a ticket?
When you purchase your tickets to American I AM, you will be asked for a date for when you would like to see the exhibition. For example, if you have tickets for July 29, 2009, it means that you may enter at any time between 10:00 and 5:00pm. These dates allow us to manage the number of people in the exhibition.

Should I buy advance tickets for America I AM?
We highly recommend that you do. Day-of tickets are first-come, first-served, and popular exhibition viewing times can sell out early in the day.

Who has the lowest priced ticket?
Walmart stores is offering the lowest priced ticket for entry. Adults $10 and Child $4 (ages 3 to 12).

Why do I need to purchase tickets for a specific date?
When you purchase your tickets, you will be asked for a date you would like to see the exhibition. This date allows us to manage the number of people in the exhibition at any given time.

Can I enter and exit the exhibition more than once with my ticket?
No. Tickets are for one entry per person only. Used tickets will show as such in our system to prevent re-entry, so a guest should be certain to purchase tickets from an official outlet.

Can I just show up and pay for a ticket onsite?
Yes!

How do I buy advance tickets for America I AM?
Continue to the "Buy Tickets' page and select the date you which to purchase. Is the America I AM exhibit wheelchair accessible?
Wheelchairs are provided onsite for guests who request them at the box office. Electric scooters are also permitted, but not available by request.

Is there seating areas inside the America I AM exhibit?
Yes. We have 22 benches inside the exhibit.

I have a group of more than 10 people who would like to see America I AM. Is there a group rate available?
Yes, group rates are available. Advance tickets for groups of 10 or more. Visit the Groups tab for more information.

There is no time limit for the exhibition; guests may stay as long as they like during the museum's normal business hours.
