This exhibit traces the indelible imprint African Americans have made on America. Their stories - some familiar, many surprising - are inseparable from the story of America itself.

The America I AM SuperTruck

Climb aboard the SuperTruck to get a glimpse of what the America I AM exhibit is like.

A Mobile Experience

America I AM Across America, a traveling preview of the America I AM: The African American Imprint exhibition, will continue the nationwide tour it began last year to bring the exhibition’s inspirational message to the hearts of communities across the country.

America I AM Across America, contained in the massive container of an 18-wheel semi known as the SuperTruck, serves as a traveling microcosm of the exhibition. It supports the exhibition’s message through a multi-sensory experience complete with artifacts, text, video and music. As this mobile preview travels the country, visitors have the opportunity to leave their own “imprints” as video messages filmed in a customized mobile recording booth. These living imprints will become part of the exhibition with the potential to become the largest recorded oral history project in U.S. history.

Meet the SuperTruck Drivers

Dan and Caryn Fuller are very experienced driving semis in general and the America I Am trailer in particular.

Caryn received her BA in International Relations, and uses her considerable organizational skills to ensure that tour logistics run smoothly. Dan grew up around big trucks, is very outgoing and is always eager to learn new skills.

The Fullers have the great advantage of being a team where both members drive, allowing more flexibility in scheduling and distance while remaining compliant to DOT standards for hours on duty. They also have had a particularly wide range of experience in variety of museum-related educational tours.

Through their work on as primary drivers on the American Legacy Tour to their assisting with Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America, they have consistently turned to enriching lives of visitors by delivering programs of significant historic and cultural value.
